TypeOh! Tuesday #20

Happy 20th TypeOh! Tuesday!! Can't believe it's already been 5 months! The two pieces this week are a little off from the norm, it's been a weird week though, so I guess it all makes sense. The first is a monogram semi-blackletter t, because I am admittedly partial to it :o), aside from the fact it's a really fun blackletter letter to draw/play around with. The last is a kind of almost photo manip with some handlettering I vectored out in illustrator. Whenever things get tough, or life gets super stressful, remember! Everything is temporary..including this work week! Enjoy!

TypeOh! Tuesday #19

Happy Tuesday! Only two posts this week, the weather has officially changed in Georgia and with it came the change of season sickness curse I've always been prone to..i.e. chewable vitamin c's are delicious but hardly being able to breathe is a tough pay off. Being sick makes me think of better times, like sipping my current drink of choice, cranberry vodka. It's also been a bit breezy here lately, so I guess that's where the 'high winds' came from. Anyway! I'm headed to bed to sleep out the sick, enjoy your (hopefully healthier) Tuesday!

TypeOh! Tuesday #18

Happy Tuesday! A few different sketched out type pieces this week..Lie to Me for the tv show I have recently become crazy about, Skinny Love, because, I think I've already established my love for Bon Iver..and this first piece, Whatever you've got, you've gotta go with it..because, well, I have a bit of a story for.

When I was in college, I worked part time as a customer service associate at a grocery store. One day, an 80 year old man who had come in before, just talking to talk, asked me to check his scratch off lotto ticket to see if he had won. He talked sweetly of his passed wife, and how he kept himself busy day by day with his grandkids and his sister. I handed his loser ticket back to him apologetically. He held my hand that was holding his ticket, looked into my eyes and said, “well, you know..whatever you’ve got, you’ve gotta go with it.” It was so profound to me in that moment, as he left the customer service desk, I reached for a post it, jotted these words down, and put it in my pocket to carry with me the rest of my life. This was over 5 years ago now, and not to sound cliche, but it really is as if it were yesterday.

Regardless, 80 year old man, this one’s for you:

Happy Tuesday! This week is brought to you by three things that will probably never be grouped together again: Blind Pilot, Bright Eyes, and a wooly bear. Guess I'll let the pics do the explaining..

The Georgia Aquarium!

When my brother was here over labor day, one of our sight seeing adventures was the Georgia Aquarium, which just happens to be the biggest aquarium in the world! I don't know how to express how much I loveee the aquarium..I've already been 5 times in the last year and a half..should probably give in to the annual pass. Anyway, I wanted to share some pictures I took from our visit..we had a brief 'behind the scenes' tour, which prompted my picture taking for the day (like I don't have enough already!).

TypeOh! Tuesday #16

Happy Tuesday! This is the official 4 month mark of TypeOh! Tuesday! Last week my brother and sister in law came to visit, so apologies for the limited posts, but I'm back from my mini vacation, and back to cranking out new type again :) 2 type pieces today; one is pretty obvious, the other - cough syrup - I'm not sick, and I'm not really sure why that came to mind. I thought it would be fun to draw though. In my head the entire time I pictured the syrup being red for robitussin, but then I changed it to green because I thought it made a good flem look :) sorry..well, I like both, so I'm posting both. Enjoy!

TypeOh! Tuesday #15

Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone had a great labor day weekend! Two type drawings this tuesday - first, 'the suburbs,' the title of Arcade Fire's new album and first single, which are both in my opinion, amazing. Be sure to check it out by clicking here. Second, just some experimenting with a 'stretch'd look, hope you enjoy! As always, you can view all of my type work by visiting my flickr :)
